Randall S. Abate

Randall S. Abate is an assistant professor at Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville, Florida. He is a visiting associate professor at Florida State University College of Law for the 2008-09 academic year. Professor Abate founded and coordinates Florida Coastal’s environmental law certificate program and teaches several environmental law courses in the program. He also coordinates the school’s environmental law externship and environmental moot court programs. Professor Abate joined the Florida Coastal faculty in June 2006 with twelve years of full-time law teaching experience at three law schools. Prior to Florida Coastal, he taught environmental law courses at Rutgers School of Law-Camden, Widener University School of Law (Harrisburg, PA), and Vermont Law School. He also taught International Environmental Law in a summer abroad program at the University of Nairobi Law School in 1998, and International Ocean Law in a winter intersession program at the Cayman Islands Law School in January 2008. He has published widely on environmental law topics, with a recent emphasis on climate change law and policy. His climate change articles have been published in the Cornell Journal of Law and Public Policy (2006), Stanford Environmental Law Journal (2007) (addressing climate change and human rights), Connecticut Law Review (2008), and William and Mary Environmental Law and Policy Review (2008). He holds a B.A. from the University of Rochester and a J.D. and M.S.E.L. (Environmental Law and Policy) from Vermont Law School.
